Karen Gray Shirley, Southampton 30-03-2011 17:26:37 United Kingdom toggle
I live on the 7th floor of shirley towers with my family, that tragic night will be in our thoughts forever. Not a day goes by when i dont think of you both, the two heros who gave their lives to save the lives of many others. There are no words to describe how much it hurts to think of the sacrifice you both made, but one thing is for sure, you will forever be in our hearts. Heaven took two special people that night, two heros who will be forever remembered, thanked and loved. Sleep tight James and Alan, your families will have an army of angels to watch over them, With love from myself, val, dave and nathan xxxx

I wish to send my condolences to the family of James and Alan.  Two young men in the prime of their lives, who gave their lives trying to save others. Two brave men who did not deserve to die.  I bet the danger they were in never even crossed their minds, they just went in and tried to do their jobs. R.I.P.  I had many dealings with firemen, they were all the same, joking, laughing, a great sense of humour, but serious when necessary, and always willing to help.

What a terrible terrible thing to happen. What true Heroes our Firefighters are, taking huge risks that most of us could never have the courage to take. I'm sure these Gent's families are so very proud of their men, who lost their lives while protecting others. The Firefighter's Prayer has never meant so much. We at Dorset feel your loss, and are devastated for you all. As Jim Shears' wife said, the world has lost two Heroes, and Heaven has gained them. Always in our thoughts xxx
